London Luton Airport (IATA: LTN) is one of the UK's five busiest airports, handling around 16 million passengers a year. Located just two miles from Junction 10a of the M1 motorway, it is the fourth-largest airport serving the London area after Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.
Luton is a base for easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and TUI, with the majority of routes serving European leisure destinations. The busiest European routes are to Budapest and Amsterdam, while Glasgow and Edinburgh top the domestic charts.
Getting There
- By road
Luton Airport sits just off the M1 motorway. From London and the south, exit at Junction 10 and follow the airport signs - it is approximately two miles from the motorway. From the east via the A1, take the A505 through Hitchin. From the west via the M40/M25, join the M1 northbound and exit at Junction 10. Sat nav postcode: LU2 9QT.
- By train
Luton Airport Parkway is the dedicated rail station for the airport. A shuttle bus connects the station to the terminal in around 10 minutes, running every 10 minutes between 05:00 and midnight with a through-the-night service available. Make sure you book your ticket to Luton Airport (LUA) to have the shuttle fare included.
From London, trains depart from St Pancras International, City Thameslink, Farringdon and Blackfriars, with a journey time of around 20 to 45 minutes depending on the service.
- By coach
National Express operates regular services between London Victoria and Luton Airport via Paddington and Golders Green. Green Line route 757 also connects London Victoria to the airport via Marble Arch, Baker Street and Brent Cross.
Coach stops are located directly outside the terminal building.

Check-in information
Check-in desks open two hours before flight departure. If you have already checked in online and are travelling with hand baggage only, you can proceed directly to security. Passengers with hold luggage should use the bag drop desks for their airline.
Tip: weigh your baggage before check-in using the self-service scales (£1.00) to avoid excess baggage charges at the desk. Contact your airline here for further information on times.

- Special assistance
Special Assistance should be booked with your airline at least 48 hours before travel. Services include help with transport, luggage, check-in, security and boarding. If you have not pre-booked, speak to a member of staff at the Special Assistance Desk on arrival - signposted in yellow from the terminal entrance.
- Blue Badge parking
Blue Badge bays are available in Terminal Car Park 1, Terminal Car Park 2 and the Long Stay car park. Badge holders can access reduced parking rates in Terminal Car Park 1 - take your Blue Badge to the Priority Parking Office on Level 2 for validation.
- Hearing loops
There are 130 hearing loops throughout the airport, including at check-in, security, departure gates and border control.
- Hidden disabilities
Sunflower lanyards are available at the Special Assistance Desk. Wearing one identifies you to staff as someone who may benefit from additional support, and gives access to Fast Track Security for you and your immediate family.
A quiet room for passengers with autism, dementia or cognitive impairment is located next to Gate 17 after security, with a toilet, shower, height-adjustable changing bench and hoist.
- Family facilities
Baby care rooms with changing facilities are located throughout the terminal. Pushchairs can be taken to the gate. A family-friendly play area is located near Gates 1 to 6, around the corner from Pret a Manger. Find out all the information you need here

Fast-Track security lane
Fast Track Security is available from £6.00 per person when booked online, or £7.00 at the airport. Opening times are 04:15 to 20:00. Holders of easyJet Flexifare or Plus tickets and sunflower lanyard wearers also have access.

Luggage storage is operated by Luggage-Point (open 04:00 to 21:00), offering baggage storage, bag wrapping and weighing scales. Luggage trolleys cost £2.00 and are available throughout the terminal and at Terminal Car Park 1.
Luggage Lockers
Left luggage lockers can be accessed 24 hours a day and cost from £5 per item for 0-2 hours or £10 per item for 2-24 hours. Additional 24-hour periods are charged at £5 per item. All bags will be subject to X-Ray screening. Left Luggage is managed by Excess Baggage Company and is located on the main concourse, beside the stairs/escalators to departures.
Pharmacies
Off-the-shelf medicines, toiletries and baby supplies can be purchased at Boots stores both before and after security. However, there is no dispensing pharmacy, so prescriptions will not be fulfilled.
Showers
There are no public showers at Luton Airport.
Chapel
The prayer room is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is open to people of all faiths. Located in the departures area after security, it includes washing facilities, prayer mats and prayer books.
